They don’t, although I can see how anyone can be lulled into reaching that conclusion, even in areas where police departments are quite diverse.
I mean, if unarmed white men — and women, can’t forget the women — were regularly being shot to death, choked, Tasered and left to die in lockups after bumpy rides to precincts, one might be left thinking that the police work for America’s African-American communities.
In that world, black people could drive through any neighborhood, in any kind of car, at any hour of the day without fear or concern of being stopped.
And even if they did run a red light or had a dead body stashed in the trunk, the cops wouldn’t even bother them because they’d be too busy harassing all the white people.
That wouldn’t be right, either.
