ONSLOW COUNTY, NC (WITN) – A Greensboro man who was arrested Friday on Eastern Carolina murder charges will remain in jail without bond.
James Moore made a brief first appearance Monday morning in Onslow County District Court.
Shelby Brown’s decomposed body was found by teenagers off Thomas Humphrey Road outside of Jacksonville on December 31st. Deputies say she had been stabbed.
The 22-year-old woman was reported missing on January 3rd by her mother, while the body was positively identified about a week later.
Deputies say Moore has a lengthy criminal history including drug offenses and breaking and enterings.
Investigators say, Moore, who they described as being a transient, and Brown had a relationship. They say the two had met on social media.
The 41-year-old Moore is due back in court May 29 and has hired his own attorney.
