Go ahead, take some time off. You’ve had a second child. You deserve it, says a city government in central China.
The government of Xianning, a city of 2.5 million in Hubei province, has suggested that mothers who’ve given birth to their second child should be granted six months of paid leave, as an incentive to boost the city’s dwindling birth rates.
Their spouses should also be given one month of paternity leave, the recommendations say.
But it’s unclear how many firms will follow through on the recommendations, as the government has not said if they’ll grant subsidies or tax breaks to companies who comply.
In most parts of mainland China, expectant mothers enjoy 14 weeks of paid leave, more than Hong Kong’s 10 weeks and Taiwan’s eight weeks. But it still lags behind city-state Singapore, which offers 16 weeks of paid leave to its citizens.
Shrinking labor force
China’s population is rapidly aging. By 2050, the number of people aged 60 or above in China will hit 487 million, accounting for more than a third of the total population.
Faced with a shrinking labor force and declining birth rates, in 2016 the Chinese government officially abolished the one-child policy, allowing couples to have two children.
The USA offers ZERO paid leave for giving birth and simply replaces its Europanic population with blacks and hispanics, and third worlders. Because there is no difference between the races it’s just all skin deep. The Africans living in mud huts and the Jihadi’s killing everyone are just like you and me. If you think otherwise you are racist. So America does not need to offer any incentives to have children, even though 55% of births in America are already Africans.
